Disbanding soldiers: when, and what do you lose?

Disband idle soldiers without a resource refund to free up army capacity.

How it works

  • The training resources you spent on a disbanded soldier are not refunded; the action cannot be undone.
  • Only idle soldiers in the active village can be disbanded; soldiers on marches, returning, or in defence positions are protected.
  • All six unit types, including the Wolf Agent, can be disbanded; you select at least 1 soldier, and the upper limit is that unit's idle count.
  • Army capacity frees up instantly by the number disbanded; you can use the freed quota for new training right away.
  • In worlds with the population rule every disbanded soldier returns to the idle population; Mounted Raiders and Heavy Cavalry also bring their horse back. People and horses return up to the limit; training resources are still not refunded.
  • Battle formation slots are trimmed automatically: amounts no longer available are removed from the slots, and a slot that drops to zero is cleared.
  • At most 20 disband actions can be made per minute; if the same request is repeated, soldiers are not deducted twice.

Step by step

  1. Open the Army screen and select the card of the unit you want to disband.
  2. In the Disband Troops area, type the amount or tap All Idle Troops.
  3. Tap Disband; in the confirmation dialog check the soldier count and the capacity that will be freed.
  4. Finish with Confirm and Disband; verify that the idle count on the unit card has dropped.

Disbanding is the fastest way to switch to a new unit type when capacity is full, but you lose those soldiers' full training cost.

Spent resources do not come back. If the idle count changes while you confirm, the dialog asks you to pick a new amount; the old amount is not processed.
