Who can you attack? March restrictions and protection types
The server checks every battle march against stage, protection, alliance and diplomacy rules; a rejected order comes back with an error message on screen.
How it works
- A battle march needs your active village at Stage 4 (Settlement) or higher; below that only NPC raids, gathering and scouting are open.
- The stage difference rule applies only to attacks on player villages in the same world: |your stage − target stage| ≤ 4.
- Example: from a Stage 6 village you can attack villages between Stage 2 and Stage 10; from a Stage 3 village you cannot attack Stage 8.
- You can attack a village whose owner has not played in this world for 7 days regardless of the stage difference; the limit applies again once the owner returns. These villages also need no Siege Master for building damage; all other protections still apply.
- A village whose owner has not played in this world for 10 days, owns a single village and is at Stage 1–3 leaves the map (players who have paid are excluded); it cannot be attacked and its spot opens up for new villages. When the owner returns, the village is rebuilt in its old spot, or the nearest free spot if that is taken, with its buildings, resources and troops, and gets 24 hours of protection.
- Beginner protection works both ways: while yours lasts you cannot attack players, and no attack can be sent to a protected village; agent scouting is free.
- A non-capital village that is destroyed becomes a ruin with a 24-hour ruin shield: during it no attack can be sent to that village, even if its owner has rebuilt it; marches already on the way arrive without a fight and return with no losses and no loot. Spy scouting stays open.
- The recovery shield comes only when a real player attack costs you at least 100 soldiers, half of your home garrison and a quarter of your total army.
- The shield blocks new attack orders for 12 hours; for 48 hours it gives a 50% repair discount and a credit of 2,000 wood / 1,000 stone / 500 iron; the same player receives it at most once every 7 days.
- A defender who sent an attack in the last 24 hours, shares an alliance with the attacker or has a Friendship or Non-aggression pact with them gets no shield; a shielded player who attacks loses the shield.
- The Peace Shield is purchased protection: for 8, 24 or 72 hours it works both ways like beginner protection; while it lasts you cannot send attacks to players either, scouting stays open.
- If the village of a player who is not a member of any alliance receives 3 different attackers or 5 attacks within the last 4 hours ÷ world speed, the village gets 6 hours of frequent-attack protection; this protection blocks only new attack orders, and if the protected player attacks someone, their protection drops.
- You cannot order an attack on a player in your own alliance, on your own village or on a khaganate eliminated from the season.
Step by step
- Tap the target village on the map and read its stage and protection status on the info card.
- Check your active village's stage on the City screen; if the difference exceeds 4, pick another target.
- Under Alliance → Diplomacy check whether you have a Friendship or Non-aggression pact with the target's alliance.
- If you are close to the limit of 5 in the active marches list, wait for a march to return.
- Place the order with Plan March → Attack; if it is rejected, the on-screen message tells you which rule blocked it.
Key numbers
- Stage difference
- At most 4 — If the stage difference between your origin village and the target exceeds 4, the march cannot be sent; no limit applies to a village whose owner has not played for 7 days.
- Beginner protection
- 24 hours — From joining the world; while it lasts you can neither attack nor be attacked.
- Recovery shield
- 12 hours — After a heavy defensive defeat you are closed to new attack orders; marches already underway complete.
- Active march limit
- 5 — Attacks, scouting, gathering and raids count together.
The recovery shield is kept separate from beginner and premium protection; one does not cancel the other.
If a shielded player sends an attack, the shield ends immediately.
