How is march time calculated?
Distance, unit speed, world speed and tactic together decide the outbound and return time.
How it works
- Base time = distance × type coefficient; the result is first clamped to the type's minimum and maximum (see the table).
- Army speed is the average of unit speeds weighted by soldier count: Archer 52, Spearman 34, Mounted Raider 94, Heavy Cavalry 65, Siege Master 18, Wolf Agent 120.
- Outbound = max(45, base × clamp(55 ÷ army speed, 0.55–1.70) ÷ world speed ÷ tactic speed factor); the slowest unit slows the whole column.
- The tactic speed factor applies only to attacks and raids: Crescent Formation ×1.03, Shield Wall ×0.92, Feigned Retreat ×1.14, Double Pincer ×1.08; gathering, scouting and reinforcements stay neutral.
- Example: attacking a village 200 units away with Mounted Raiders only: base 200 × 3.4 = 680 s; 55 ÷ 94 = 0.585; 680 × 0.585 = 398 s (world speed 1, no tactic).
- Had the same army been Spearmen only, the 55 ÷ 34 = 1.62 factor would make it 1,100 s; a mixed army's average speed falls between the two.
- Return = outbound × max(0.82, 1 − Road Patrol level × 0.03); the speed factor is not applied a second time on the return.
- The Göktürk faction shortens the outbound time of an attack or raid army made only of Mounted Raiders and Heavy Cavalry by ÷1.12; a single foot unit cancels the bonus.
Step by step
- Select the target on the world map and open the march type with Plan March.
- Watch how the outbound time changes as you pick unit types; removing slow units shortens it.
- In attacks and raids the speed factor of the Tactic selected in the Army screen affects the time; consider Feigned Retreat for a fast arrival.
- Check the march food and the return time, then press Start March.
- Track the remaining time and return time in the active marches list.
Key numbers
- Shortest outbound
- 45 s — Whatever the calculation gives, the outbound time never drops below 45 seconds.
- Default army speed
- 55 — An empty or invalid plan counts as speed 55; the speed factor is clamped between 0.55 and 1.70.
- Return advantage
- At most 18% — Road Patrol in the Raider Stables shortens the return by 3% per level; the floor is ×0.82.
The server divides the time by world speed; on fast worlds every march is proportionally shorter.
